I loved it. Absolutely loved it. I grew up just across the Hudson from NYC and had wanted to see the stage play back then. Never had the chance and the movie was every bit as good as I ever thought it would be.
Johnny Depp really pulled off an excellent roll as did Helena Bonham Carter, Rickman and even Wormtail.
My husband went under protest especially after I mentioned it was sort of a musical. He came out and had to admit he liked it. Had him on the edge of his seat a few times even.
R only because of the "violence" in it but it is actually very 'false' and staged' looking quite like a stage play would be. Very good special effects and did not find it 'gory' just very good.
No nudity in it at all. Very well done.
One 4 letter word used in it the entire time and that's s... and used in a very 'appropriate way' as referring to the contents of sewers... literally :)
Yes they are but Tim Burton deliberately made the blood so bright red it seems artificial... Rather than gory as in other gory movies such as the Friday the 13th series...
